Our History

St. Matthew's Lutheran Church is a congregation was officially organized in 1890 and has been serving this community since 1875.

St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) denomination. Click the links to find more information about the South Carolina Synod and the ELCA.

We are a community where you can Be yourself. We strive to imitate and re-present Christ to those in and around our community.

We also have a deep value for community, which means there is always a place for you. God constantly reminds us that no matter what you Belong, you are worthy, and you have a place at the table.

We believe God’s call for us is to Become our best selves by helping others experience the deep love and grace that God has for this world.
